Shandong Agricultural University (SDAU), with Agriculture and Life Science as its feature, keeps coordinated development in Agriculture, Science, Engineering, Management, Humanities and Law. It covers an area of more than 5,300 mu with nearly 900,000 square meters of floor space. There are 17 colleges, 2 departments, and 37 specialties for undergraduates in the university. There are 2 postdoctoral research centers, 2 doctoral degree-conferring programs in the first-level discipline, 11 in the second-level discipline, 28 for masters, 2 national key disciplines, 2 key disciplines recognized and supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, 9 provincial key disciplines, 1 ministerial-level key opening laboratory, 6 provincial key laboratories, and 4 provincial engineering and technological research centers. SDAU has an annual enrollment of more than 5,000 undergraduates, 1,200 vocational training students, and 400 postgraduates and Ph.D students. Ever since the 1950?痵, SDAU has cultivated and supplied society with more than 150,000 qualified graduates, four of whom have become academicians of the Chinese Academy of Science and Engineering. 

In recent years, 37 achievement awards have been given to SDAU in teaching research, two of which have been awarded a special national award and a first-place award. In addition, SDAU has garnered 178 provincial scientific and technological achievements, among which 14 were national prizes, and 165 were granted by provincial government and national ministries. The achievement of research on Short Menniu-a new germplasm winter wheat with short stalk,multi-disease-resistance and high production-won the National Technological Invention Prize in 1997. 

Moreover, 21 national patents and 117 achievement awards for extension and dissemination have been obtained. Therefore, enormous social and economic benefits have been achieved, amounting to 26 billion Yuan(RMB).

SDAU has established friendly and cooperative relationships with universities and research institutes in more than 20 countries and regions such as: the USA, Canada, Australia, France, Holland, Japan, Ukraine, Korea and Thailand. It annually receives foreign visiting scholars and visiting delegations, approximately 200 persons/times, and frequently holds international academic conferences. 

 For years, with all the efforts of its faculty and staff, SDAU has developed into a large multi-disciplinary university with rich cultural implications, excellent university spirit, more talented students and graduates, and high international prestige home and abroad.
